“Living in a fantasy world” is disregarding reality because it’s more convenient for you to do that. But “Being an Optimist” is believing that a better future is possible.

Pete & Jen on The Long and The Short of it

Spend energy in a future-focused way rather than beating yourself up for what your past self didn’t know you were going to be encountering in this moment.

1- Pull levers of generosity, compassion, empathy, & care rather than levers of fear & uncertainty

2- “Change can’t be hacked”… change occurs in small, consistent steps – build change day-by-day, step-by-step (don’t ask “what grand leap can I take”, instead ask “what step can I take today?”)

3- Be aware of skill sets you might use in certain ways, but likely are transferable… give yourself permission to be creative & ask, “who else might benefit from what I have to offer?” – your viable audience might have expanded

4- “Can, if” is different than “no, because” our default posture can sometimes be, “No, because of this constraint” – instead, if a constraint is identified, figure out a path forward
