Motivation isn’t a character trait. It’s a state of mind.

Where to Start:

Understand 2 motivators that aren’t sustainable, or just don’t work …

  • 1-Fear-based
  • 2-money (it can be a short-term maximizer)

Identify motivational catalysts …the internal desire that makes each of us do what we do

4 things shown to spark motivation in the workplace:

1- Freedom:  Living their preferred, balanced life (extra days off, more flexible workday, etc)
2 -Connectivity:  Collaborators & team players seek connection to work and people – being a part of something larger than self feels best
3- Acknowledgment:  Praise – knowing they’re doing well, and having results publicly acknowledged
4- Support:  Intensely loyal – have their back; they have yours; expect the effort they put in to be matched by others

…adopting a sustainable, repeatable system for motivating employees, the team can function at a higher level of productivity, even when goals change or company pivots
