It’s good to know where you went wrong or what’s lacking… But what’s more important is knowing how to make it better and improve. So focus on asking for advice instead of asking for feedback.

Takeaways of Note:
To get the best advice possible (applicable at any stage of life and career)….
Be specific in the type of advice you are seeking – i.e. are you looking for a sounding board? Or for methods to improve? Or alternative solutions? etc.
Show them the way – ask “what could help in the future”… this prompts thinking in new ways & looks forward instead of rehashing the past; and often leads to more specific & actionable advice.
Give a little nudge – If someone gives vague feedback, don’t stop there…. prod & extract advice to ensure the conversation is useful & can actually help improve the future.
Ask the right person – research shows that receiving too much different advice can lead to ignoring it… think about the problem/topic you are seeking feedback on & consider who is best to give advice on it (not necessarily the people you’re close to or comfortable with)
