None of us is immune to the current state of our world, our towns, our companies, and our teams…

The two sources of certainty that mean the most to employees are the organization’s top leader and their direct team leaders.

takeaways of note:

Team members need to hear frequently from leaders to (1) stay informed, (2) feel heard, and (3) keep focused.

Stay Informed – team members need to be able to rely on their immediate leader for honesty & stability. In normal circumstances, a weekly cadence is most powerful, but daily communication is likely required in fraught times.

Feel Heard – frequent attention from the “Most Important Person” to us in the office (and in life) is a common denominator of performance, trust & resilience.

Keep Focused – maintain focus on what’s most important: 1st, the health of your team & their families; 2nd, the current state of the business. Be clear that “what you know is changing rapidly” and that “your actions will change accordingly”. Team leaders should keep in mind that it’s only human to be worried & scared.
